How Much Snow Fell in Your Neighborhood? | Weather
Title (Max 100 Characters)
The heavy, wet snow that dumped all day Saturday left many people shoveling out of 6-12" of the white stuff! The highest storm total came from Maple Grove where a spotter recorded exactly a foot of snow! Waconia, Wyoming, and Eden Prairie were next with 11"+, followed closely by Chanhassen, New Hope, Burnsville, Forest Lake, Mankato, and Amboy.
The official Saturday snow total at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 7.7", a daily record for November 13th, besting the old record of 4" set in 1997. It was also the biggest single-day official snow tally since March 1st, 2007 when we logged 9" on a single day. Another 0.2" of snow fell after midnight, making the official grand snow total 7.9" for the storm.
The average snowfall for an entire month of November is 10".
In sharp contrast to the foot of snow in the Northwest Metro was the mere 0.9" recorded in St. Cloud! The storm packed a narrow band of major snow, bordered by dry air to the north and west, and warmer air (with mainly rain and mix) to the south and east. Places like Rochester picked up more than 2" of rain from Friday to Saturday, but ended up with less than 1" of snow.

LIMITED ACCUMULATIONS.
...A FEW NOTES...
* MANY AREAS IN NORTHWEST WISCONSIN...AS WELL AS PINE AND CARLTON
COUNTIES HAVE LESS SNOW CURRENTLY ON THE GROUND THAN WHAT THE STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION WOULD BE. THIS IS BECAUSE THE WARM TEMPERATURES AND RAIN MIXING IN AT TIMES HAVE COMPACTED THE SNOW IN THESE AREAS. UNLESS MEASUREMENTS WERE TAKEN EVERY FEW HOURS AND THEN ADDED UP...THE SNOW DEPTH RIGHT NOW WILL PROBABLY BE SEVERAL INCHES LOWER THAN THE TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION.
* RAIN MIXED IN OR BECAME THE DOMINANT PRECIPITATION TYPE
YESTERDAY IN MANY AREAS OF LOWER ELEVATION RIGHT ALONG LAKE
SUPERIOR. AS SUCH...ACCUMULATIONS HAVE BEEN LIMITED IN THOSE
AREAS.
Thanks to everyone that took the time to email weather pics and snow totals! It made my job covering the storm that much easier!
